MentorMe, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“MentorMe”) operates this site on behalf of a company or organization you are employed by, a member of, or otherwise affiliated with (the “Organization”).

This Privacy Policy describes:

  • What information we collect from you;
  • How we use your information;
  • How we protect your information; and
  • General privacy policies and provisions.

What Information We Collect From You.

MentorMe collects and stores information on behalf of the Organization you are affiliated with, and for the sole purpose of facilitating the services available on this site (the “Site”). MentorMe may collect such information, including Personal Information (as defined below), in a number of different ways. For example, MentorMe collects all registration information when you sign up for the services available on this Site. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, and physical address. Additionally, MentorMe also collects the information you provide when you create your user profile, interact on the Site, leave comments, or other such activities. Please note – MentorMe collects information you may even consider private communications (e.g., communications between you and your mentor/mentee).

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means information that specifically indentifies you (such as your name, password, phone number, email address, street address, or date of birth). MentorMe also collects non-personally identifying information such as the organization you are a member of, or the city you live in. Such information is considered “Personal Information” when it is combined with other identifiers such as your name or phone number.

When you use this Site, MentorMe’s servers automatically collect information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, your computer’s operating system, your browser type, the address of a referring website, and other similar information. MentorMe also collects non-identifying information such as traffic volume, frequency of visits, lengths of visits, etc. Such information is not linked to you or your account; rather, such information is aggregated and solely used to help MentorMe improve its services (such information is collectively referred to as “Log Data.”). MentorMe also collects information through the use of “cookies.” Generally, cookies are small data files that are stored on a hard drive at the request of a website to enable the website to recognize previous visitors and pull-up that user’s preferences or other information.

How We Use Your Information.

MentorMe uses all information it collects, including Personal Information, for the exclusive purposes of operating this Site and improving the Site’s features and services. MentorMe may use your information combined with other users in aggregated form to perform research and improve the effectiveness of the Site. This research may be published in academic journals, marketing materials or in media, such as television, radio, online, newspaper or magazine articles. However, all of the data collected and any researched publish will not contain your Personal Information.

MentorMe does not own any of the information we collect (with the exception of Log Data); rather, MentorMe stores and secures the information we collect on behalf of the Organization. This means that MentorMe does not, subject to the exceptions stated below, sell, lease, transfer, distribute, or otherwise convey any Personal Information to any Third Parties whatsoever.

Exceptions to Transfer of Personal Information

In the event MentorMe sells substantially all of its assets to a third-party acquirer (or merges with such third-party), information, including your Personal Information, will likely be transferred to the acquirer. Likewise, in the event MentorMe goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, such information would likely be transferred to a third party acquiring the assets.

MentorMe may release Personal Information when it believes in good faith that the release is necessary to comply with the law; to protect a party who may be the victim of abuse; to enforce the terms of use of the Site, this Privacy Policy, or any other agreement; or to protect the rights and safety of MentorMe, its employees, this Site’s users, or other third parties as reasonably determined.

MentorMe may provide information, including Personal Information, to third-party vendors, consultants, or other service providers (“Service Providers”) for the purposes of operating this Site, improving its services or providing background checks on mentors. MentorMe will only share such information to the extent necessary for the Service Providers to carry out their work for us.

You acknowledge and agree to the transfer of information, including Personal Information, as described in the foregoing section.

How We Protect Your Information.

MentorMe strives to completely secure your Personal Information from all unauthorized access, use, or disclosure by putting in place industry standard physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect through the Site. Please be aware, however, that despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. To help ensure the confidentiality of your Personal Information, please keep your password confidential and do not disclose it to any other person.

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date first listed above, and MentorMe may revise this Privacy Policy by posting the revised Policy to this page . Your continued use of the Site, after the revisions are posted on the Site, constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

You may access any personal information (as well as correct, amend, or delete inaccurate personal information so long as the expense is disproportionate to the risk of the inaccuracy or when unless it would violate third party rights) that MentorMe keeps by contacting MentorMe as provided below.

EU Safe Harbor
MentorMe follows the European Union (“EU”) Safe Harbor guidelines related to Personal Information originating from the EU and transferred to the United States, to the extent required by applicable law. The Company has further committed to refer unresolved privacy complaints under the Safe Harbor Principles to an independent dispute resolution mechanism, the BBB EU SAFE HARBOR, operated by the Council of Better Business Bureaus. Protection of Children’s Privacy
MentorMe complies with the Child Online Privacy Protection Act. You may at any time review your child’s Personal Information maintained by MentorMe, require MentorMe to correct or delete the personal information or refuse to permit MentorMe from further collecting or using your child's information.
